Let the Artist (NOT) Die. EXCHANGE

The principal purpose of this project is EXCHANGE of artistic experiences, particularly in the context of collaboration of Polish and Austrian choreographers and dancers. Within the project, Wrocław hosts performances by renowned Austrian artists, discussions and workshops for local artistic communities, while Vienna, Graz and Salzburg.

Besides workshops, conferences and performances, we believe in the value of creating an interesting Artistic  program in order to emphasize the cooperation between foreign dance centers.  Professionalism, distinctive artistic identity, as well as the ability to guarantee a high level of artistic reference and integrity are important criterion for the exchange.

The project encourages participants to express their creative visions and ethical opinions on different aspects of reality – identity and diversity, community commitment and, most importantly, the value of direct personal experience in the process of getting to know the environment and another person. The programme is based on an analysis of important local artefacts used as a starting point for artistic discussion intended to explain differences in the perceptions of reality, beliefs, traditions, behaviours and moral attitudes.

One of the aims of this project is awakening public attention and mobilization not only in reference to artistic creation but also in reference to the work of dancers in Austria and Poland. This exchange program between Austria and Poland will encompass the initiation and development of an international dialogue/exchange, promotion of dance/dance language, as well as showing great empathy for dance among various public groups.

Movement, dance and physicality are of particular interest to artists. Dance is always open to other art genres, and the shows often have an interdisciplinary character, also on the border of dance and performance. The programme is intended to reflect contemporary methods of work and development trends in both disciplines It has attracted some of the most prestigious institutions and artists from Vienna, Salzburg and Graz. The programme will be realized in cooperation  with the Laboratory of Movement  ESK  2016 in Wrocław, The Institute of Music and Dance Warsaw,
