*’But father – father!‘ she cried, ‚must it be so?‘ ‚He is coming for the last time, I promise you,‘ was the answer. ‚Only go now, go with the children – go – go to bed. Good night!‘ I felt as if I were turned to cold, heavy stone – my breath stopped. My mother caught me by the arm as I stood immovable. ‚Come, come, Nathaniel!‘ I allowed myself to be led, and entered my chamber! ‚Be quiet – be quiet – go to bed – go to sleep!‘ cried my mother after me; but tormented by restlessness and an inward anguish perfectly indescribable, I could not close my eyes. * from E. T. A. Hoffmann – The Sandman

LULLABY – AUGEN ZU explores the character of Sandman from E. T. A. Hoffmann short story The Sandman together with repetitive tunes and lyrics of lullabies. We will appear falling somewhere in between the inseparable connection of dread and dream. Scared to death but calm and absolutely pacified ready to leave reality for dreaming, we will fly on wings of the space itself with its delicate light and reanimated shadows to step into our own falling asleep as it would be an almost paused moment for us to touch it and experience it through our sensory impressions.
